Hi, friends! I have a fun announcement today - we’re going to start a new club over here, and everybody is welcome. I’m announcing…*drumroll*… The Nerky Berk Clerb (*fireworks, oohhh aahhh*), or, yanno, The Nerky Book Club to normal people. We’re going to read a book together each month, announced the last week of the month prior – or earlier if you’re on my email list! I tend to read a lot of non-fiction books in the self-help, financial and comedy genres. In fact, aside from Harry Potter and my funny-title book collection, which honestly deserves its own post if you missed my Insta-stories a few weeks back, my entire book shelf consists of non-fiction books about how to get better, do better and laugh more, so that’s what we’re going to do. Together.
We’ll mix it up and jump around and if I pick a book that winds up being a super quick read, we might even do a twofer some months. Helloooooo overachievers!
For June, we’ll read You Are A Badass by Jen Sincero. I’ve read this one before, and it was actually the first book in the self help genre that I read and connected to that didn’t make me eyeroll so hard that my eyeballs got stuck. However, it was years ago when I was in a completely different life place, so I think reading it again will not only be super beneficial, but it’s also fitting for it to be the first berk in the nerky berk clerb. “Self help” has such a stigma around it, but eff that. We could all use a little help, canigetanAMEN! Think about it like this – if reading a book shifts your mindset for the better, plants the seed for a good habit or even just makes you smile, then it’s a win. It doesn’t matter what genre it is, it’s all about you feeling good. Get better, do better and laugh more, friends.
I created an Amazon list as part of my Amazon page that will have all of the books in it, that way it’s an easy reference point if you want to go back and read a past book. And here’s an offer to try Audible for free (and it includes 2 free books!), if you’re into audio books. I kind of go back and forth. Sometimes I like to listen to books, and sometimes I like to hold them in my hand to read. Either way, you have options! And free stuff!
Don’t want to buy it? Check your library. A lot of libraries have e-books and audio books you can check out as well. Welcome to 2019.
Who’s in? I’ll be over here reading poolside as much as possible this summer!
