Friends, I really, really, really wanted to love this book as much as I loved You Are A Badass, because I loved Brené Brown’s Netflix special and TED...

Earlier I talked about all of my knee injuries and how it affected my running. Today I want to talk about my favorite things for running with a weak knee. If you missed the post, I have torn my ACL and meniscus 3 times and had 3 surgeries on the same knee within 4 years. My last surgery was almost 3 years ago now, and I’m just now to the point where I can get back into running.

My son and I are doing Couch to 5k together, which is a training plan...

I started running again. It’s been so, so good.

7 years ago when I first started running, I did it to lose weight. Unexpectedly, it became my therapy time. I liked being alone with my thoughts and feeling a sense of accomplishment at the same time. I did the thing! I ran the distance! I got the medal! I loved it.

Legit the best race pic I've ever had taken.
This was during my second triathlon.
I'm high-fiving another runner - this was a straight away...

The book of the month this month was Daring Greatly by Brené Brown – and I’m not finished with it yet! I have like 80 pages to go and I don’t want to post a review until I’ve completely finished it, so this isn’t a book review, but I am going to announce the August book.

First – something I wasn’t expecting from Daring Greatly is that it’s very informational, meaning everything is very...

When to Get Rid of Your Dead Spouse's Clothes

The right answer is whenever you damn well feel like it and not a minute sooner. For me, the answer was over a year after he died. It’s not because I have a special attachment to his clothes. There are things I have and will always keep because they hold a special meaning to me about Jason and our relationship, but most of his clothes aren’t in that category. For some people it may mean a month after their spouse passes. It’s different for...

So I did what any excellent parent would do, I came up with a way to delay the inevitable for as long as possible.

Enter, The Dog Chart.

My son had to take responsibility for all of our pets until I decided he was responsible enough...

Y’all, I’m so excited about this. Redecorating, cleaning and organizing has been giving me life since Jason passed. My house is becoming more me and less us, while still honoring his memory with little touches of him everywhere. You can see my living room glow up here.

I spend SO much time outside, especially in the summer time, that my patio just needed an upgrade. Wait, how do you upgrade when there was no furniture to begin with? Basically...

I have a treat of a story for you today, about the time my son’s hamster Shawshanked out of his cage and had free reign over our house for 2-6 days and somehow managed to go undiscovered (read: uneaten) by any of the other much larger animals that live here.

My son has a fluffy long-haired hamster, appropriately named Mr. Furball, or Furbies for short. He lives in a hamster mansion – it has 3 levels, 2 wheels, 2 huts for him to sleep in, tubes going...

Friends. Last week I went on a Texas road trip with my son, and it was the best vacation I’ve been on in a long time, and y’all, I went to Mexico kid-free this year so that’s really saying something.

We basically did a tour of Texas water parks with other stuff sprinkled in, and I didn’t hate it. I have a couple of rad playlists that we played on repeat, and he played on his Nintendo in the car. At one point between Waco and Austin, he...

Friends, I’m doing something new today. Try all the things, ya know? I’ve been RILL excited about getting new patio furniture. I’ve worked so hard to get my backyard lookin’ foiiiiine, that now I need somewhere to park it so I can enjoy looking at my hard work. Problem is, I have zero patio furniture. Between all the chaos of kids, broken pairs of goggles, deflated pool floats and half used sunscreen bottles, I just never got around to...
