I’ve been doing the home workouts in Just Brandi’s Six Week Challenge for the past week and a half, and I am FEELING IT. Alllll the sore muscles, but it’s that good hurt that shows you’re getting stronger. I alternate days most of the time between a challenge workout, which is generally focused on strength training, and running. Starting today and moving forward, I think I will run or walk (or just do some kind of cardio for about 30 minutes) every day in...

Friends, I’m on week 6 of Couch to 5k and I’m totally digging it. If you’re interested in running and don’t have any clue where to start, Couch to 5K is for you. It’s sometimes abbreviated C25K, and now that you know that, you can sound extra cool at parties. You’re welcome. Always come to me to be sure you sound cool at parties. I gotchu.
The program starts slow for beginners. The first workout is:

Earlier I talked about all of my knee injuries and how it affected my running. Today I want to talk about my favorite things for running with a weak knee. If you missed the post, I have torn my ACL and meniscus 3 times and had 3 surgeries on the same knee within 4 years. My last surgery was almost 3 years ago now, and I’m just now to the point where I can get back into running.
My son and I are doing Couch to 5k together, which is a training plan...

I started running again. It’s been so, so good.
7 years ago when I first started running, I did it to lose weight. Unexpectedly, it became my therapy time. I liked being alone with my thoughts and feeling a sense of accomplishment at the same time. I did the thing! I ran the distance! I got the medal! I loved it.
Legit the best race pic I've ever had taken.
This was during my second triathlon.
I'm high-fiving another runner - this was a straight away...

Versaclimbers – something I’d never heard of until I watched Mark Wahlberg get all bragadoshe about his daily 4am workouts on Instagram. Y’all, anything before 8am, I’m out. I mean anything, much less a hard workout. In order to show up for my workout in the best way possible, I need to fully wake up first, and that takes a minute.
Luckily, we did this class in the evening. The studio was cool and in a trendy part of Dallas....

Celery juice – so hot right now. (You have to say it like Mugatu talking about Hansel in Zoolander or it’s not funny. Related – it might actually just not be funny.) I tried drinking celery juice every morning on an empty stomach for 32 days. You can read about the purported benefits here. I loved the routine I built around it in the mornings, and I didn’t mind the flavor. I was excited to see what it did for me after seeing how...

I tried a pole dancing fitness class as part of a bachelorette party last year, and it’s safe to say I would be a very sad exotic dancer. I’d definitely be assigned to the Tuesday lunch buffet time slot. I guess I’ll stick to my day job.
The class was at Vertical Fitness Dallas, which is the same place I went this week to try out aerial yoga – you can read about it at the link. It was taught by a former (maybe current?) exotic...

This weekend I tried aerial yoga for the first time. It was rad and I felt like a flying gazelle princess…except when I felt like a clumsy elephant. There was no in between.
I went to Vertical Fitness Dallas with a friend – it was my second time there, but the first was for a pole dancing class/Bachelorette party last April. More on that class another time. It was a doozy.
I’ve taken a lot of yoga classes of different varieties, but never...
